BOGOTA, June 10 (Xinhua) -- At least two people were killed and several others injured Tuesday morning in a series of terrorist attacks in the southwestern Colombian city of Cali, local police confirmed.
"There were three terrorist incidents in Santiago de Cali, all currently under investigation by forensic and intelligence units," said Deputy Police Commander German Manrique.
One of the victims died in the Los Mangos neighborhood when a motorcycle exploded near a police station after bypassing security barriers. Authorities said the individual has not been fully identified.
The coordinated attacks took place in the areas of Los Mangos, Melendez, and Manuela Beltran, causing extensive damage to homes and businesses. Several schools were evacuated as a precaution.
Cali Mayor Alejandro Eder called on the national government to urgently address what he described as "uncontrolled violence" affecting the city and Colombia's Pacific region. ■
