BEIJING, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Italy's Jannik Sinner clinched his second China Open title on Wednesday with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 victory over American teenager Learner Tien in the men's singles final. Meanwhile, the women's draw saw top seed Iga Swiatek and No. 4 seed Mirra Andreeva both fall in stunning upsets.

For Sinner, 24, it was his third consecutive final in Beijing, following his 2023 triumph over Daniil Medvedev and last year's runner-up finish to Carlos Alcaraz.

"It's obviously special to be back in another final here," Sinner said on court. "Every year is different, but the feeling of winning in Beijing is always great."

The world No. 2 made a blistering start on Diamond Court, breaking twice in the first five games and wrapping up the opener in just 34 minutes. Tien, contesting his first ATP final at age 19, settled into the rhythm in the second set and held his first two service games, but Sinner's aggressive returns earned him breaks in the fifth and seventh games before sealing victory on his third championship point after one hour and 12 minutes.

"It really feels like home here in Beijing," Sinner added, thanking the packed crowd. "The support has been amazing since day one, and I hope to share more moments like this in the future."

The victory gave Sinner his 21st career tour-level title, sixth at ATP 500 level, and third of 2025 following his triumphs at the Australian Open and Wimbledon. He has now captured 17 hard-court titles before turning 25.

Tien, ranked No. 52, had enjoyed a breakthrough week, advancing past both Lorenzo Musetti and Medvedev after the two retired mid-match. His Beijing run follows a strong start to the season, when he came through qualifying to reach the Australian Open last 16, stunning Medvedev in a five-set thriller.

"It's been an amazing week," Tien said. "Everything since I arrived in China has been incredible. To play my first final here feels like a dream. I'm grateful to my team and family for supporting me, and the fans here made me feel so welcome."

Sinner became the first man since Novak Djokovic to reach three straight Beijing finals, and joined Djokovic and Nadal as the only three players with multiple titles at the event, which has been staged since 2004. He now turns his attention to the race for year-end No. 1, with Alcaraz holding a narrow lead in the ATP rankings.

In the women's draw, 16th seed Emma Navarro produced the shock of the tournament by ousting world No. 1 Swiatek 6-4, 4-6, 6-0. Swiatek leveled the match with a gritty second set but collapsed in the decider, where Navarro reeled off six games in a row. It marked Navarro's first win over the six-time Grand Slam winner and her maiden quarterfinal in Beijing.

"I'm not injured. I just played bad today. I kind of knew what I was doing wrong but I was stuck in repeating it rather than actually solving it. For sure I was more nervous because of that and maybe too many emotions as well. Next time I'll try to be cooler so I have more space in my head," the Polish said.

Next for Navarro is the winner between fifth seed Jessica Pegula of the United States and Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk.

Fourth seed Andreeva also bowed out in dramatic fashion, falling 7-5, 2-6, 7-5 to Britain's Sonay Kartal. The 23-year-old, ranked No. 81, earned her first Top 10 victory and first WTA 1000 quarterfinal appearance. Andreeva, just 18, broke down in tears on the sidelines immediately after the loss, unable to contain her disappointment.

"It's probably the biggest win of my career so far," Kartal said. "I just tried to stay calm and be brave in the important moments."

Kartal will next face No. 26 seed Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic, who eased past Anastasia Potapova 6-2, 6-4 earlier in the day.

In men's doubles, Finland's Harri Heliovaara and Britain's Henry Patten rallied past Russians Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 to lift the title.
