PHNOM PENH, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's famed Angkor Archaeological Park received a total of 705,269 international visitors in the first nine months of 2025, a slight increase of 0.77 percent compared to the same period last year, said a news release on Wednesday.
The ancient site made 32.7 million U.S. dollars in revenue from ticket sales during the January-September period this year, also slightly up 0.57 percent, said the news release from the state-owned Angkor Enterprise.
In September this year, the park attracted 35,650 foreign tourists, generating 1.64 million dollars, down 25.7 percent and 25 percent, respectively, compared to the same month last year, the report said.
Situated in northwest Siem Reap province, the UNESCO-listed Angkor Archaeological Park is home to 91 ancient temples, which were built from the ninth to the 13th centuries.
Thourn Sinan, chairman of the Pacific Asia Travel Association Cambodia Chapter, said that considering the current geopolitical climate and various crisis issues impacting global travel, he did not expect a significant increase in tourist arrivals to the Angkor complex in 2025.
He added that unless there are initiatives such as free visas or special incentive packages for destination management companies or travelers, arrivals might remain relatively flat. ■
