ISLAMABAD, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Mobile phone call services are gradually being restored in Afghanistan after a major technical disruption hit the country's networks, a statement on the Afghan government's official Urdu X account said on Wednesday.
The technical teams are working continuously to fully restore services nationwide, the statement added.
Residents in several provinces confirmed that phone calls have resumed, while some areas are still experiencing difficulties, said the statement.
The disruption, which began recently, has affected millions of users across the country.
The network disruptions sparked speculation on social media about potential restrictions on internet access. However, Afghan government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid dismissed the rumors in a post on X, clarifying that the outages were caused by technical issues. ■
