YANGON, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's newly elected President U Win Myint, along with two other vice presidents, was sworn into office on Friday, pledging to carry out his duties with righteousness, seriousness and steadfastness.

He also pledged to pursue three objectives as his priorities which are law enforcement and people's socio-economic development, national reconciliation and domestic peace and amendment of the constitution for the establishment of a democratic federal union.

The pledge was included in his inaugural speech at the Union Parliament.

U Win Myint stressed the special need to change all shaped ideologies and fixed customs and practices during the transition period which has just started.

He called on to strengthen the declining judiciary, boost corruption fighting, human rights protection and drug curbing, prevent loss of people's fund, return confiscated land and compensation, pursue the well-being for workers and higher education for students.

The new president stressed the development of the media sector to serve the people.

He vowed to remove the red tape system to reduce the burden to the people, fight corruptions and strengthen the people's morale and morality.

Pointing out that the country and the people are facing a lot of difficulties and challenges, U Win Myint said the people have to make a lot of effort to make the country develop in every sector.

U Win Myint also warned of facing many pressures, criticisms and misunderstandings in international community, calling for people to implement priority areas in earnest efforts.

He promised that people will see with their own eyes the changes that they have yearned for a long time.

U Win Myint, former speaker of the House of Representatives, won the presidential election on Wednesday, hosted by the Union Parliament to fill the presidency vacancy left by U Htin Kyaw, who announced resignation last week, citing health reason.

Shortly after his U Win Myint reshuffled the cabinet, reorganizing it with 27 members.

The new government also formed an 11-member National Defense and Security Council as well as a new 21-member financial commission.

Meanwhile, the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD) also updated the organizational line-up of its 15-member party central executive committee with Aung San Suu Kyi as the chairperson, U Win Myint and Dr. Zaw Myint Maung as vice chairmen, and U Nyan Win and U Han Thar Myint as secretaries.

The NLD won an absolute majority of the parliamentary seats in the Nov. 8, 2015 general election and its government assumed office on April 1, 2016.
